The Street
Nevsky Prospekt is St. Petersburg’s main avenue. It is named after Alexander Nevsky Monastery, which stands at its eastern end, and which commemorates the Russian hero Prince Saint Alexander Nevsky (1221 – 1263). Nevsky Prospekt is also the city's central shopping street and the hub of the city's entertainment and nightlife.
